How to play Snake

Bring your attention to one round of Snake. Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Check the rule that explains your first action. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Press Play to start the movement.
  2. Turn with arrow keys, swipes or the on-screen direction buttons.
  3. Each apple adds ten points and makes the snake longer.
  4. Pause when needed or start a new round.

Controls

Keyboard arrows, swipe gestures or the four direction buttons. Play / pause controls the movement. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

When moving right, you may turn up or down, but cannot turn immediately left into your own neck. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

The snake continues moving between inputs. Plan a route with space to turn. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
