How to play Memory Pairs

Choose a round of Memory Pairs and settle into its rules. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
