How to play Table Tennis

Try Table Tennis at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

rally/service model, win-by-two and alternating deuce service.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Serve.
  2. Move the lower paddle under the ball.
  3. Hit after the bounce near your baseline.
  4. A missed return gives a point.

Controls

Pointer/paddle buttons; Hit / return; Space serves or hits. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

An early hit is rejected; wait while positioning the paddle. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Choose a deliberate next step.

Watch out for this

The ball-flight model is timing-based, not full tournament physics. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
